History has shown that a clash between two biggies has hardly been productive and examples like GADAR v/s LAGAAN are far and few. No wonder, in the recent past, quite a few actors have rose up to the situation and kept their egos aside to instead arrive at a win-win situation. One waits to see if a similar situation would be averted with two films of Katrina Kaif, BANG BANG and PHANTOM, slated to clash with each other on 2nd October 2014 and Priyanka Chopra’s MARY KOM joining the fray too.
'John Abraham starrer WELCOME BACK was the first to do that when it decided to advance its arrival by a week, lest it entangles itself in a three way clash with P.K. and BOMBAY VELVET on the Christmas weekend. Last one heard, even Rajkumar Hirani and Anurag Kashyap are talking it out to avoid this clash. In all probability, the two films would have a solo release. Then recently Ajay Devgn too has moved ahead his ACTION JACKSON, hence resulting in Akshay Kumar having a solo release for his HOLIDAY,' informs a trade source.
Also, before the world declares a clash between ITS ENTERTAINMENT and SINGHAM 2, the two films are already spaced out by a week this August, hence resulting in a win-win. No wonder, all eyes are on BANG BANG and PHANTOM to split up as well so that they don't eat into each other's business.
Even for Katrina this is pretty much required since she would be arriving almost a year after DHOOM 3. While she had more or less a supporting part to play in the Aamir starrer, she is very integral to BANG BANG and PHANTOM. The last thing that she would want is to compete with herself on the holiday weekend of 2nd October, when the two films are currently slated to release.
Now, one waits to hear a final word on that, more so since Sanjay Leela Bhansali too has announced his plans for Priyanka Chopra’s MARY KOM to release on the same date.
